Can't comment on the graphgear 500.I don't really know, pretty standard lengths for a mechanical pencil, I haven't measured. Even though a lot of people like the 600 for its aggressive grip, the 925's is much more aggressive. Hexagonal barrel ensuring fatigue-free writing and drawing. I can't remember. Massdrop has had two repeated sale periods on the 600, 800, and RapidPro in the last year. It writes really well.

I'd estimate that a 600 is thinner than a wooden pencil by a fraction, and that the 925 is noticeably thicker than a wooden pencil by a mm or two.

When it came out, the pencil was available in 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.9 mm and the grip and lead harness indicator sections were silver while the rest of the pencil was black rOtring has added the 800 to the product list without replacing its younger brother the 600. Anyone know what it might be?Truly a classic, but heavy as hell, awkward to post, and the one I had wrote about a size and a half larger than it was listed (which was good for me, as I like broader nibs). Though a little bit wider than the Pilot F that was(!) I'll be getting the 600 then.P.S. Its hexagonal shape prevents the pencil from sliding off a tilted or smooth surface. There’s also a clutch pencil version that takes 2mm lead.

The original model that has been discontinued (Rotring 600) was overall a great mechanical pencil. Knurled grip is very nice.
It's aluminium and much, much lighter compared to the rotring solid brass. If you treat it well, decades. I expect the 600 to outlive the 500 simply because brass can take more of a beating than plastic, but the plastic will hold up to scuffs and paint scratches better, while the brass will likely get paint chips and wearing over time. I also told my friend, and he said that the Kuru Toga AlphaGel and the GraphGear 1000 were better. They're both shorter than a wooden pencil by and inch or two, but I don't own any wooden pencils anymore, so I can't say for sure.See #1. Different versions can take 0.35mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm. I was looking at both the Rotrings listed above, and I am planning to get one or the other. Being bid sniped on way to many Ebay listings I finally managed to pick one up. The grips are both metal, though, so while the 600 will have a neutral weight distribution, the 500 will be front-heavy. You simply can't carry it in your pocket or backpack if the tip is exposed.P.S. Old stock Rotring 600 EF, never inked before. So if you're not in a hurry, wait for the massdrop. The Staedtler 925 is a featherweight compared to them. 600. That means not dropping it and damaging the tip, which you can replace for ~$12, and probably straighten on your own with pliers and some care.
