This film casts Joan in a very odd role as the owner of a small circus and ringmaster.
With Joan Crawford, Ty Hardin, Diana Dors, Michael Gough. ), Michael Gough ( Konga , Batman Returns ), and sixties Brit horror. Then there is a downright bizarre and insane musical number featuring 4 circus freaks who dance and sing and look directly into the camera! Directed by Jim O'Connolly. It makes good use of suspense and you don't know who is getting it next. The carnage should have been bloodier and more grotesque, even considering the limited budget and era of release, and the film totally lacks the mysterious and oddly unsettling ambiance of other contemporary circus-horror efforts.
She romances the musclebound daredevil! Some people do not care for the circus scenes, but I feel that they lend credibility to the proceedings. Was this review helpful?

The last 10 minutes close things down in a pretty improbable way (the last murder is not done by the same person as the others). That's like openly admitting to the viewer that the main story lines are too thin to fill up the entire playtime, or that they desperately need the padding in order to distract you from the incoherent and implausible plot.

At first, it might just be accidental, but when the business manager gets a tent spike driven through his head, you know it ain't suicide! It's as if the authors of the bio-pic were more inspired by this fictional scene when scripting their film than whatever happened in real life!
