rapid pro has a rounded hexagon body, retractable tip, but doesn't look as "classic" as the 600, the tip can range from like 1 - 4 mm so if you want a shorter sleeve, rapid pro is good. What are your thoughts on that pencil?I have the 800 in 0.7 and carry it around in a pocket fairly often.
Or try a TWSBI Precision Retractable (its heavily inspirated on the 800 without tip wobble). I've not tried the Rapid Pro, but the two 800s I wrote with had some wobble; for me, that's a deal-breaker.I just got a Zebra M-701; solid, all metal exterior, hefty, and with a nicely cross-hatched grip.
Need the an amazing ballpoint pen but can't choose between the Rotring 600 ( https://amzn.to/2GOmmmU) and the Rapid Pro ( https://amzn.to/2LI1som)? I might say the rapid pro is better balanced as well. I already have a Rotring 300 ( clutch system 2.0 graphite lead ) and I wanted a .5 lead that was built to last and feel good in the hand ( not to mention admiring it's looks ). get the 800 if you will carry it in the pocket get the 600 if it will be in a bag.I have the 800 and 2 600. don't have a rapid pro. I don't own one of the other three, so can't compare them. The older two were made on the right time (end of the 80's - right before CAD era) when precision stationary instruments was in its golden age. What I don't like about the Kerry is looks, I like pencils for the aesthetic in addition to performance.I've a 600 and like it very much. It has a cap, like a pen, so the tip won't get bent. Does the tip wobble noticeably on paper?I dont have a 600, but I'm writing with a rapid pro right now and it's solid as a rock.
The Rapid Pro is 145 mm long and 9.0 mm in width. I like it but it looks more like a surgical instrument and I'd imagine the thin grip would lead to strain over long periods of writing.I'd reccomend HB if its for notes honestly, unless you particularly prefer softer or lighter lead. The Rapid Pro also has a spring loaded tip that retracts the lead if you push too hard in order to avoid lead breakage.
As for the 800, the only thing preventing it from besting the 600 was the frequent lead breakage that I encountered. Has a lead indicator.the 800 is the same as the 600 but with a retractable tip.
It has a reputation for the tip bending easily; I wouldn't carry it without some serious protection.

Hows the mechanism? It's an excellent pencil.However, on the go, I take a Pentel Sharp Kerry. The Rapid Pro I bought on Amazon for $30 runs $42 there, and STEIN lead runs $3.30 there were it can be had on Jstationery for 2.50 or 1.90 on ebay.Hey, I'm guessing you have had a chance to try out both the Rotoring 600 and Rapid Pro by now, can you compare the two?I own the Rapid Pro, the 600 and the 800. I have only had it for a couple weeks and only use it for drafting figures and occasional notes, though.I previously used a graph gear 1000 for like 6 years, including a lot of engineering homework. It doesn’t seem like a lot on paper, but the Rapid Pro is a considerable l… I like it quite a bit, and the retraction mechanism is undeniably cool.
Also the Rapid pro has a piece of plastic in the middle holding it together (the red band) and it feels pretty flimsy.

As yet, I've only the 925 25-09 and 25-20 but will surely be getting the 07 and perhaps the 05.The Rotring 600 is the best of these, but the others can leave my house.Thanks for the great feedback, I looked into the 925. It´s the best balance for longer use without creating too much dust inside the tube due to an overload of refills.
