Our guide James was informative, very smart, engaging and had a measured personality that was very reassuring. The last evening group dinner was lovely. I really enjoyed our tour with the local guide there. The accommodations arranged and the food was wonderful. "We had a wonderful tour of Barcelona and Madrid/Toledo with our tour guide Agustin C. It was our first visit to Spain and we really wanted to see the main sights of these cities. We also visited Park Guell on our own. The hotel in Barcelona was excellent, but the Madrid hotel was only so-so, but not a deterrent. There can't be a more beautiful venue. This year I made it happened.
This was my first time in Spain so I gained a wealth of knowledge about the history, culture, food and traditions.
Also I enjoyed our day trip to Toledo and the optional bus tour recommended by Federico to Montserrat. Any suggestions for something centrally located. "First, The weather was perfect, not too cold and not too hot. It always seemed that we were beating the crowds at our sights and we were being taken care of by all of the service professionals. I loved that our first night's dinner together was a cooking class. Not so much in Madrid. This was our first group travel tour. Our tour leader (guide) was excellent.We had a great group of very compatible people. The beach of Barcelona was fantastic - only downside is an airport inspector stole my seaglass and seashells from my luggage. Always as good as all our previous trips with Rick Steves touts. I would suggest going during the week although that might cause other problems for the activities shifted to Saturday. She was warm & friendly as well as an outstanding leader. It's been years that I've been wanting to travel to Barcelona and Madrid. duty for the first few days but I never felt cheated or that the group was missing anything. Fun packed , effortless travel, that's what I like!This was our first Rick Steves tour and we were very happy with the experience and value provided. Next time, and I am fairly sure there will be a next time for me and a Rick Steves' tour, I will try to avoid July in Europe. "looking at the architecture of the cities we visited. Walking some of the streets mentioned in Carlos Ruiz Zafon's Cemetery of Forgotten Books series, which I read before, during and after the trip, made Barcelona seem even more magical. Our guide's recommendation to try a vermouth bar near the hotel in Barcelona led us to compare vermouth at each city we visited, including after the tour, which was fun (now we're learning how to make it at home). I dont want to just read plaques on the wall, to get some vague idea of what is happinging. "It would be tough to choose a favorite...each part of the tour had its own "wow"! First and foremost- Barcelona, Madrid, and Toledo are fantastic cities with so much to see and experience. "I had a wonderful experience in Barcelona, Madrid, and Toledo. The balance between group activities and free time was just right. A great collection and varied pieces. Centrally located at Portal de l'Angel 17 it is clean, reasonable and in the heart of town. I enjoyed the whole trip and wish I was still on the tour right now!!
