There is just a general sense of everything being open, natural, and safe. It has a very relaxing but lively feeling and the people and companies are awesome! Highly recommend Roseville for families or really anyone who's looking for a suburban feel but be extremely close to urban communities!My experience in victoria has been wonderful. If you are there everyday, no matter where it is, you'll at least get to know the regulars and probably a lot more people. The schools are excellent and national award winning. There is an extremely strong sense of community that can never be shaken.Explore the best suburbs to raise a family based on public schools, crime rates, cost of living, and family-friendly amenities. Paul city proper, but some of the suburbs have districts that are consistently ranked in the top in the country Diverse weather if you like seeing all 4 seasons. Never once have I worried about locking up my car or making sure the windows were up; everyone is trustworthy. Also, the town represents some of the best character of citizens within Minnesota. It is a great place to live and raise a family.We live on the north side of Vadnais Heights. The area is just a choke point and it seems that there are a noticeable number of people who live in Minneapolis and work in the west suburbs.I can’t say what Excelsior looks like at that time of day, but it may be a better bet.OK. SCHOOLS Minneapolis public schools spend $18,026 per student. The school also has a variety of athletic extracurriculars, but could be improved with more academic extracurriculars.
Upon living here I felt a scene of belonging and comfort like I've never felt before. We lived downtown for a while too, in a nice building, but there are more uncomfortable moments there (especially for my wife).•local farmers market - The one downtown is second to none in the cities, its worth the ~12 min drive on a Sat/Sun morning than finding smaller ones around town•sense of community with local businesses - Downtown Hopkins (boarders Minnetonka) has this vibe, lots of mom and pop style stores, restaurants, and whatnot... you really get an "old downtown" vibe there•nearby biking/walking trails - the "green trail" is the big one around the cities, but Minnetonka does have quite a nice set of trails too. With that warm neighborhood allure, it still comes with everything you need from shops to restaurants!
Known for “Jucy Lucy’s" and indoor skywalks, Minneapolis is like no other city in the world. The area isn’t as diverse as it should be, but in schools many people from surrounding areas are enrolled. Closer to 50 if weather is bad.Like other posters have said, the hardest part about commuting from Uptown is just getting out of Uptown. Many big companies such as Deluxe, Boston Scientific, etc. The best three public schools in all of MN are SLP, Edina, and Southwest, hands down. The diversity in Minnetonka definitely lacks in certain parts, however there is definitely an increase every year. This is based on my years living downtown and which areas were harder to get to.The one thing that jumps out at me here is that "walkable community" and "suburbs" are usually not compatible concepts. Community policing is a value. More Education I don't like driving all that much...but living carfree in this modern age has proved elusive for the most part.So, I am faced with a choice...I've found a cool place in Uptown to live and I can deal with the drive...or I can live in Hopkins area and basically be .7 miles from work - and can walk to work if I want...and drive into the city for activities on evenings and weekends.Just looking for some advice from residents - which would be the better option, and if you could provide a feel for what traffic is like from Uptown out to Hopkins and back on the weekdays.I leave Lyn-Lake area around 7:25 and head out past Maple Grove every day in about 35-40 minutes if weather is good. There are many others: 612, Dangerous Man, Steel Toe, Flat Earth, etc.As for brews and brew pubs, we have a lot! It was the best place to grow up. Minnetonka offers many job opportunities, but also offers endless activities to do with the family. Are you going to drive just to go for a coffee at your favorite cafein Uptown? There are many parks and lakes in the city to enjoy and take a breathtaking view, especially in the summer. There are wonderful natural spaces, lakes, creeks, and parks. The town offers everything for young families to those into retirement.I've lived in this city my entire life, and I love it here. There are all sorts of shoppes and stores around, so you don’t have to travel far to get what you need. We enjoy being close to so many parks and trails, and love how many trees there are.
It seemingly hits all of your wishes, including walk-ability, sense of community, and local business, which you won't find in any of the suburbs you listed. The school district is great, and many middle/upper-middle class families live here.
