Gruene General Store was established in 1990, after refurbishing the general merchandise store of H.D.Gruene. Gruene Hall, built in 1878, is Texas’ oldest continually operating and most famous dance hall. They also have a soda fountain which is TINY not a traditional one with areas to sit etc--they sell fresh fudge and a couple of Blue Bell ice cream flavors, the line is typically long, but there's nothing like ice cream in a small town on a hot Texas day.What a cool little general store, my sister took me to Gruene for lunch and a little shopping.
