I love a heavy pen. We will see how long the blue lasts before wearing off.
It is what I expected from cross, in how it writes and how it feels. My review is based on a purchase of this pen, NOT a review of a free product.This pen is absolutely perfectly weighted and balanced. So, now, I have a Blue/Silver pen w/ a Gold’ish band. Calais was inspired by art-deco design, with an asymmetrical tapered profile, polished chrome details, and a selection of fine finishes.
I got this because my Grandpa used to buy me Cross pens for holidays.
The pen has its own serial number which is symbolic to the individuality of being a writer. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived, and it was thick and heavy. It comes packaged in a handsome box and can be engraved if you want to spend a little more, making it ideal for gift giving.
Has a solid weight to it but not too much. The Cross Bailey, on the otherhand is much better and not that much more money. Cross pens never fail to impress me. There's only one flaw with it.. since over 50% of the pen is chrome, inevitably it gets fingerprints all over it that are very visible. It has to look classy, feel good in the hand, write easily with skips or smudges, and be built to last. I love pens. The Cross Calais has a pretty traditional shape, albeit one that is firmly rooted in designs from the 1970s-1990s. Would recommend this pen to friends and family.

$37.00. Came as advertised. It feels wonderful in my hand, the fat barrel feels heavy and satisfying. The silver parts are not flush with the body, the clip is very tight and will not fit in some shirts. I polished it off with a Dremel tool. My only concern is the band started flaking after a few months. All this while retaining the classic Cross styling I've always admired, but couldn't use until now. It has an awesome feel to it and write so smoothly. I received this pen as a gift and am very pleased. I like it; this pen is just as attractive as in the photos. The greatest difference being that this pen is capped rather that the classic mechanical twist retractor. I have found it a pleasure to use. Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2019 The brass-bodied pen won’t win any design awards, but it is covered with a lovely matte blue lacquer finish highlighted with silver-colored accents. Blue and chrome colors make the pen very appealing. I was not disappointed. I guess my options are to use a velvet glove on my writing hand, or, keep wiping it off.I like the pen, but in only a few short months the blue color has started to come off causing it to look and feel extremely cheap. The combination just isn't enjoyable to write with. I absolutely enjoy writing and keeping up in my journal now with this beautiful pen!
