STRANGE BEDFELLOWS is one of the more lively outings for the late-stage Columbo as it features a different kind of murder for the detective to get his (false) teeth into. Paul Hogan is reluctantly thrust back into the spotlight as he desperately attempts to restore his sullied reputation on the eve of being knighted. Was this review helpful to you? Great supporting cast (Jay Acovone, Jeff "V" Yagher, Rod "Fortelli" Steiger none the less ...), suspenseful definitely underrated. It's not a perfect episode. For choice, for convenience, for quality.

Why? 10 out of 19 found this helpful. The confrontation is a pure pleasure for Columbo fans reminiscent of the early seventies ones. Miranda? George Wendt will never be mistaken for a great actor. It's a lot of fun watching how he plays a calculating, down to earth villain who slowly loses control of his 'perfect' plan. He should have just stopped. If it were cut down to 60 minutes and dissociated from Columbo, it would make a pretty good episode of some other show of the early 2000s. This was the second worst. MENU. A horse trainer outraged by his brother's gambling debts murders both him and the bookie he owes money to, then claims one killed the other. Columbo may be older, but he's still sharp and at the top of his game, and his method of operation here is for the most part plausible. Lt. Columbo(Peter Falk) is investigating the crimes when he is approached by the mob leader Vincenzo Fortelli(played by Rod Steiger) who wants Graham to pay for what he did, but the two of them instead come up with a better plan to trap Graham... Slick, entertaining episode with Steiger and Falk a good match-up, and Wendt's character is so obtuse and unsympathetic that the potentially morally dubious alliance between them isn't an issue. This is one of the best 1989+ Columbos because it relies on that old standby of the 1970s classic era, a great performance by a heralded movie actor, this time Rod Steiger. What's great is that he suspects Graham McVeigh from the very beginning and is deliberately toying with him. Joining him and asking the questions we all want to ask is his good friend, Shane Jacobson. George "Norm" Wendt makes a great murderer.
Princess Diana died when Harry was just 12 years old But he actually is well cast in this particular role - a lying, not too bright criminal, who nonetheless designs a brilliant, extremely complex murder/frame-up plan that only Columbo can figure out. The worst Columbo ever was "No time to die."

However some cigarette ash in Teddy's car is enough of a problem for Lieutenant Columbo to keep poking his nose in long after Graham had hoped it would all just go away. Was this review helpful? Nah! Even though not as good as the old ones but definitely one of the best if the new series.

Film The most notable aspect for me was the familiar faces in this episode, which include fine performances by both George Wendt and Rod Steiger, and watch for regulars John Finnegan, and the final appearance of Bruce Kirby. Strange Bedfellows A divorced man wants a tax break, newly introduced in Australia for gay partners.His widowed best friend goes along with it & hilarity ensues! I felt it boring, dragged out and really unrealistic. It's a particularly good combination of comedy and suspense in this episode. Two of the episodes, "No Time to Die" and "Undercover", were based on 87th Precinct novels by Ed McBain and thus do not follow the usual Columbo format. There is, however, a glaring hole in the plot. Two 'very straight' old timers have to learn how to pass as a loving gay couple after falsely claiming same-sex status to take advantage of newly legislated tax laws.
