Unfortunately you have to drink the rum to see it……Way too sweet for me , I’m a kraken guzzler but thought I would give b m a try , wish I had stayed with my usual kraken .. Captain Morgan is better for SIPPING! Short answer: they’re black rums. I'll have to head to a bigger liquor shop I guess.I suggest branching out into non-spiced rums.
I didn't know they made dark unspiced stuff. I tried looking on their store locator but it says "coming soon".Those are the only black rums I've tried and I'm looking for more....Also kind of off topic... a lot... but what do you guys think of Sailor Jerry?

For once our palettes actually agreed.Kraken has a powerful caramel and molasses nose with just a hint of spice.
This dark spiced rum has an interesting back story which links the spirit to the magic an ancient sorceress who lived on an island off the coast of Africa. Kraken Black Spiced Rum is made in Trinidad and Tobago distilled from naturally sweet molasses, aged one to two years then blended with eleven spices. Kraken is also not top of the line spiced rum but compared to this one I think I enjoy kraken just a bit more. On the other hand, Captain leads with spice with undertones of caramel and vanilla.

Captain Morgan is better for SIPPING! This wipes the floor with Kraken. For some reason a number of Spiced Rum brands in the US are bottled at higher than usual ABV’s. Then compare the two rums. I really liked Kraken but I can't find a store that sells it. Just try try the ginger beer, let me know what you found. To me it looks very much influenced by The Kraken!The Kraken is the best selling rum on Amazon.co.uk. Black Magic is not bad but for a spiced rum but it seems to be missing something that makes it stand out of other black spiced rum's. It also means they can produce more with less.
Quite dark brown color from artificial flavoring. It retails at around £20 per 70cl bottle and is 40% ABV. If you're drinking with ginger beer, I really want to recommend a good dark rum like Gosling's Black Seal, or a nice demarara like El Dorado 8 year, but seeing as you're hell-bent on spiced rum, I'll heartily recommend Sailor Jerry. Once the taste settles the caramel kicks in giving the rum a smooth finish. Not much competition for wallet conscious consumers.So what do we have in the bottle then?
