...the storytelling gets more haphazard and by the time it finally fully shifts gears into horror, the whole thing just becomes kind of silly, not to mention pretty sloppy from a technical standpoint. May 4, 2018 parable in company with "Carrie," "Ginger Snaps" and last year's "Thelma," "Wildling" is low-key with an undertone of menace, skillfully directed by Fritz Bhm in his feature debut.
It's a promising debut for Bhm, with a lot of promise.
Still, it held my attention because I was already invested in the story.Bonus points for casting Brad Dourif, who never fails to deliver.Wildling had real potential, but in my opinion fails because the filmmakers obviously can't decide in the first half what exactly they want to tell, and after they have finally decided where the story is going, it fails because of the execution.

Wildling knows that, and creates something quite impressive in its 90 minute running time. none of these three aspects fits in the course of the acts.

The name they employ makes reference to their society, which recognizes no inherent or hereditary political authority, except for leaders whom they choose to follow. Pads! But it's a home run for Powley, who makes "Wildling" worth watching even when it shouldn't be.
